Premier Nationwide Lending Pursues Opportunities As Regulations Increase

Flower Mound, Texas – As regulations continue to grow, further limiting lending practices, the mortgage industry is experiencing a retreat by lenders from wholesale channels. This decrease in wholesale providers is putting mortgage brokers in a bind as they scramble to identify lenders still servicing this area of their business. And though some major banks have exited stage right, other mortgage lenders are seeing the highly regulated market as an opportunity to grow and assist customers through what can be an intimidating process.

One such mortgage lender, Premier Nationwide Lending (PNL), continues to expand and commit resources to the wholesale mortgage broker channel of origination. “We are now working with mortgage brokers in 23 states, with several more pending. In addition, we have recently hired several new account executives and are aggressively seeking more,” says Southern Regional Manager, Shane Campbell.

With the recent withdrawal of several major banks from the wholesale channel, including Suntrust, Everbank, and Wells Fargo, mortgage brokers have become uneasy and uncertain about their future. “There is no question that the new regulations, such as QM, have put fear into many in the industry. While others may be shying away from wholesale, PNL sees opportunity,” stated Corey Kirkpatrick, PNL Divisional VP - Production.

“One of our major focuses right now is to educate mortgage professionals on the new regulations without any spin. We have been holding forums across the country talking about QM, QRM, disparate impact and more, to make sure people know the truth about the regulations and not give in to the fear mongering taking place. We want to make sure small business owners know that they have options,” added Mr. Kirkpatrick.

PNL feels that mortgage brokers serve a vital role in a stable housing environment, particularly on the service side. And with many consumers still wanting to live the American dream of home ownership, PNL is focused on putting families into homes.

In 2012 80% of the $2b PNL funded was for purchases, a notable stat when considering the recent decrease in wholesale origination providers. “Our purchase vs. refinance statistics tells me, that while many of the larger banks were focused on refinancing consumers, PNL’s customers were driven by purchase volume and were using a wholesale partner they knew could get the loan closed in a short amount of time,” stated Erin Leck, Northern Regional Manager. “Our conscious commitment to our loyal business partners has helped, and continues to, put thousands of families in homes.”

When I closed on my loan my closing agent told me that though they deal with lots of divorces, they don’t see Owelty refinancing that often. I want to let everyone know that Brad is a man of his word and works his butt off for you. I was recently divorced and I got the house in the divorce. I needed to refinance the mortgage, Home equity line of credit, and an Owelty lien. I live in Houston and I was trying to get all of the above mentioned into one refinance.
